What is Entertaiment?

Entertaiment

A clown at a birthday party, the Broadway show, your friends fighting over the last potato chip—all of these are forms of entertainment. From the French word entretenir, meaning ‘hold together’ or support, it’s amusement or a distraction, often with a performance element. It’s the reason why Scheherazade, a story in the Persian professional storytelling tradition, has inspired orchestral works by Rimsky-Korsakov, Ravel and Szymanowski; a film by Pasolini and innovative video games.
